Walt & Connie I recieved my knife & sheath around the middle of December 2003.  I can't tell you both how pleased I was.  This is the 5th custom knife I have bought and there is no comparison with any of the other 4 I have.   The workmanship in the way this knife is built is unbelieveable.  I have cleaned 4-Deer & 2-hogs and the blade is still very sharp.  The wait for this knife was well worth it.  I was so pleased with my knife & sheath I put in an order for another knife and sheath.  All my hunting buddies are so jealous at the quality of the knife & sheath compared to the custom knives they have bought.  I have had many offers to buy my knife as much as double what I paid for it.  This knife will be in my family forever.  The sheath is so well made and fits the knife so well.   I love the Elk and my name on it.  I could go on and on but I better leave you some room for another satisfied customer.  Thanks to both of you for such a fine knife and sheath.

Hi Walt: The knife arrived today. To say I am pleased with it would be a real understatement. It's all I'd hoped for and exactly like those you show on your website. The Caribou handle is JUST what I wanted, as is the entire knife. The sheath is also very well made and the figure of the Caribou is a nice touch (to go with the handle material). You both do great work, well worth waiting for, and I would recommend you folks to anyone looking for a special knife and sheath. They will be passed on to my grandson and will remain in our family as prized possesions for years to come. You Folks take care of each other. Sincerely, Bob PS It's pretty obvious that it will take an extremely sharp edge since that's the way it arrived. Also want to thank you for sending along the photos as the work on the knife progressed!!

Dear Walt & Connie, I received my hunter from you today & I am totally impressed with it's beauty and your fine craftsmanship of both the knife and the sheath. As you know, I am a part-time knifemaker myself and can definitely appreciate the time and effort that goes into producing a beauty like this. If only I was so skilled. Can't wait till this fall when maybe I'll get a chance to try it out. For now it will have a place of honor in the display case, and you can rest assured that it will remain in my possession as long as I'm around and then be passed down to my children. Thanks

Walt,

I was able to pick up the package today at lunch. You must know that I was very, very pleased with the expert craftsmanship and result of your efforts. You exceeded my expectations! Everything is really fantastic. The wood coloring, the finish on the knives, the blade design and sharpness, etc., are all super. You have one very happy customer, and a friend for life!! I am looking forward to years of use and display of the fine quality. You should be proud of your efforts and the results, as I certainly am. The sheaths are also first class. Thanks Connie! I will try the sharpeners on the kitchen knives first. Obviously don't need them for my new knives for awhile!

You certainly have my recommendation to anyone seeking high quality knives of the finest craftsmanship. I hope to work with you again in the future. I would like something special for my son. I may have some different concept for myself again too. These turned out so special. Keep me in mind for the next season, if you have space.

Best Regards, Steve H.

Walt, I picked up the knives from the post office Monday afternoon and opened the box before I left the parking lot. I was/am very pleased as I knew I would be. The three knives are of the same style, yet each is unique in its design. You may have outdone yourself this time. These knives are truly works of art. If you should ever have a potential customer who wishes to speak with an owner of one of your handmade knives, just direct him/her to me. I appreciate your efforts and the really fine touch of putting a picture on the net for me to see before I received them. They were certainly worth waiting for. Thanks again for a job well done. I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future. Give my long distance hello to Connie. Woody.

Dear Walt,

You may not remember me, but in 1997 the wife and I were on our 40th anniversary in Alaska. We stopped in for a visit and wound up buying two sets of knives, two paring and two kitchen knives. One set was engraved "specially made for Phillip" and the other "specially made for Barney". We received them in time to give my son-in-law his set for Christmas. We had dinner at our place, and they were invited to a long-time friend's for a meal. He took his paring and carving set with him. When they came home he had a grin from ear to ear. He had praises for that set, and said that he had called his dad to brag about them. I had already used mine and they truly hold up to your standards. Sorry for not getting back earlier. Thanks you for such great work. 11/12/97 shipped invoice No.35.

Many thanks,

Barney N.

Thanks Walt!

I appreciate the fine job you did. The knife turned out exactly how I had originally requested. I plan on dressing fish and foul with this for years to come. It's a nice "working souvenir" from Alaska. I will treasure it, and you can bet your boots I will use it. Your craftsmanship and materials used are excellent. The wait was long, but it was well worth it.

Kindest Regards,

David S.

Well I went by the post office early this morning and picked up the knife. All I can say is, I just thought I've seen fillet knives, this is a FILLET KNIFE. As usual the work is outstanding. I will send you some pictures of this beauty in Alaska laying open one of those BIG KINGS.

I wanted to let you know that my father was very pleased with the fillet knife. He said the handle fit very nicely in his hand and the blade and all was very fine craftsmanship. He was very pleased and my mother too. My father is a custom builder retired and doesn't give empty compliments. I am so happy with the whole experience. Your and your wife's extra efforts to make this gift so very special - and to make the customized knife at my request - is very much appreciated! I would be pleased to recommend you to potential customers and you may refer customers to me if you wish.

I got one of your knives two years ago. It did five (5) moose and everyone wanted to buy my knife! I'd be lost without it.

  • June 25, 1999................................................Estacada, Oregon

I purchased a hunter knife in June of 1998. During November I used the knife to field dress & skin four elk. After the first two, I had to give the edge a light touch-up, and finished the other two. I was very pleased with the performance & durability of the knife.

Just a note to let you know how much I like my 9" fillet knife. To say the least....it stays sharp! I filleted fifty (50) "reds" with it last summer before I felt any need for a touch up. Quality is tops. I used to dread cleaning fish, but now actually enjoy doing it. It is a slick knife. See you next summer.

The knife worked out great! I skinned and quartered my elk as well as helped a friend with his. As you can see, the knife is still pretty sharp. If you have any type of catalog, several of my friends are interested in purchasing a knife like mine..........

I am the happy owner of an original work of art that is also an item with a practical use. I show it proudly to friends and brag that I know the maker personally.

Hello to the Campbells,

I just thought I'd better let you know that I received the knife you made for me. It made quite a long trip to reach me, as I had moved to Texas in the time since we were in Alaska. I had just told my wife that I needed to send you a change of address, and the knife came the next day, so I guess I was meant to have it. The knife is very well made, and it is exactly what I asked you for, and will last me for years to come. I also very much appreciate the leather sheath with the personalized writing. I would like to say "thank you for a job well done".

Walt & Connie:

It all started last summer as our RV rental passed your shop on the Sterling Highway in Alaska. We enjoyed our visit with you and the chance to see first hand some of your work. I remember you taking me into the back room to show me the basics of how you made knives. I knew right then that I wanted you to make one for me. As a fisherman I selected your fillet knife. You delivered more than you promised, and even sent me an e-mail photo of the finished product before you shipped it. It's great doing business with craftsmen like the two of you. What a joy to do business "the old fashioned way" which is so seldom found in today's fast paced world. I highly recommend your knives, and I'm sure more business will come your way.

Interested in a great hunting, fillet, or other custom knife? Everything including the knife handle and sheath are custom made. The handle on mine is made out of the heart of sagebrush. It's my primary hunting knife. I used it a few years ago to clean, skin, and quarter a five point bull and a deer, and didn't have to sharpen it. It's been sharpened once in the last six years. They hold a edge like no other knife!. Knives are custom made to your individual taste and needs.

Hi Walt and Connie, The fillet knife you made for me works great. I filleted out 25 Reds and it never missed a beat. The edge is still sharp as can be and everyone who has seen it loves the knife.

I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to stop by on the way out of town, but we were running late getting back to Anchorage. I hope you have a great summer, and Idaho treats you well this fall and winter. We'll be back next July, and be sure to stop by. If you have any new creations this winter be sure to e-mail me and we'll see what I may want. Again thank you for the great knife, it will be treated with the respect it deserves.

Walt and Connie we were in Alaska this summer and purchased a hunting knife from you. Anyway, your knife brought me good fortune when I got a 5x6 bull elk in Wyoming with my bow. The knife performed fantastically and held its edge like no other. I was interested in some steak knives for my wife for Christmas can you help?

Dear Walt, Dear Connie It's a job superbly well done! I'm sure Erich will be as excited as I am now when he gets to lay his hands on your piece of art. Thanks again for what you have done. • 25 Dec 1999....................................Iowa

Walt and Connie: Merry Christmas! We got a fresh 4 inches of snow yesterday, so it is really a white one. My knife arrived in time for Christmas; thank you very much. It looks really great. A touch of Iowa along with a touch of Alaska looks really good to me and has so much personal meaning. Thank you again. What a great solution. We deer hunted last week and 6 of us took 6, including a 10 point buck. I wasn't the shooter this year, but that's hunting. Next year I'll get to use my new knife. Until then, it will be admired plenty. Stay in touch.

Thank You and Connie
